I'm not a big T-pain fan but this video juss blew my mind, I think I may have to be diagnosed for ADHD!!!!

I had wanted to post this entry next week since it would be fitting for Barack Obama's inauguration into the United States's White House , but I felt the urge of whattheheckpostitanyway lol.

During the production of Q-tip's Renaissance album it had been hyped by the guest appearance of Barack Obama before he became President elect. Though, after the LP had dropped the rumoured track featuring Obama was not included.

Alas, it deemed to be true and you too can have the Presidential track into 2009 as it serves testament that you too can have HOPE and create CHANGE individually thus creating a global effect like Obama has shown.

From what I have heard and from what you see he does pull ups before his speeches this chap will never lose lol.

OBAMA FTW!!!

Bonus Track:

Q-tip - Shaka ft. President Barack Obama

M.I.A Report: Asher Paul Roth

Posted by Arz Nova On 17:24 0 comments

There seems to be a certain amount of criticism surrounding Asher Roth, the criticism lie to comparisons to Eminem. Though he may sound like Eminem, not particularly in my opinion, they are polar opposites. Actually my friend and I thought he reminded us of Jamie Kennedy by his actions lol. They may be of the same coin, but they're given sides are different.

Unlike Eminem, Asher displays a carefree and fun approach when it comes to his delivery about college related activities. Asher's delivery and flow have potential, I had listened to the A Milli freestyle, yes I'm aware of the MILLIons of attempts associated with the beat. I concede I had a hand in a couple verses not leaked onto the internet to avoid ridicule lol. Anyway, Asher's version of A Milli had content on serious day to day issues.

Now this what I'm wondering, since Em is apparently due to drop an LP during the same period Asher is making his debut, can the two co-exist? It will be an interesting turn of events to see how this develops. I for one hope that they can and that 2009 is a better year for Hip Hop than 2008. Certainly, with the prospects of Kid Cudi,Wale, Cory Gunz, B.o.B, and Charles Hamiliton in tow.

Asher Roth - A Milli Freestyle

I really enjoy his video over the Jay-Z Roc Boys :]

M.I.A Report: Alfredo Paixao

Posted by Arz Nova On 10:43 0 comments

Ladies and gentleman the New Year has come and is here. Starting afresh and beginning anew is usually associated the New Year.

We here at [M.I.A] believe that you should also add finding new amazing artists on your Resolution list as well. With that being said, let us usher in new beginnings.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when beauty captivates your ears such as the case of Alfredo Paixao its beyond explanation. Music is a universal language that speaks to you directly. The amazing prowess of music is its ability to affect the listener in some form, it makes you feel certain emotions, it can change ones life and also be theraputic.

I am truly enamoured by Alfredo Paixao's work which can be found on his Music Myspace page. ALFREDO PAIXAO

The uniqueness of Alfredo Paixao's music, is that it has all of those above qualities stated. Upon, listening to Nascer, I felt so liberated, happy and romantic all at the same time! Not only that, Alfredo Paixao's voice is wonderful, its as if its illustrates the song as he sings. I am literally at a loss for words, for it has had a profound affect on me as I listened. The second song Nas Voltas had me feeling the same way and whilst listening I felt as if I had been transported to Nirvana.

Alfredo Paixao has the ability to invoke romanticism, merriment and joy and he does it so effortlessly. The combination of jazz and soul is a wonderment, and rather magical. It is a sound that is timeless, that I will never tire of hearing as it is a pleasure to listen. It allows you to put your problems aside and soothes your soul, bringing solace and serenity as you listen.

I am truly humble to have spoken with him, thus allowing me to share with you his gift to world. Remember if you like what you heard, please I urge you to support true artists!

Also if you have Myspace, even if you don't please check the rest of his incredible portfolio here: ALFREDO PAIXAO

While perusing the inter-works of the internet, I stumbled on an interesting discussion. The topic of discussion centre around Lupe Fiasco's connection to a supposed 'British Punk Rock Band' under the name of "Japanese Cartoon".

Where did I hear about this news? Well right over here: THATREALISH.COM

To add to the confusion, "Percival Fats" (Lead singer) denies that he is not Lupe Fiasco but claims that Lupe is their dear friend, backs the band financially and lends production on the tracks.

My theory on the whole fiasco you may ask?! I believe that this may be Lupe's secret alter-ego!!
It seems that everyone is having multiple personalities in the music industry these days...
I'm having mixed feelings about this whole ordeal. A part of me dislikes the faux accent and the other part of me likes what I hear...leaving me on the fence lol.

So henceforth, go get your Sherlocke Holmes on and see for yourself if it truly is Mr. Wasulu with a faux British accent as the lead singer of a super secret rock band! Hit the clues!

M.I.A Report: Lykke Li

Posted by Arz Nova On 12:06 0 comments
Hmmmmm...How likely is it that you will dig Lykke Li? Highly likely, now before I dig into to this, I am not too late to write about her because for some she is still undiscovered, or is she?

There is so much to like about her.

For one she hails from Sweden! That's two Swedish songstress I adore now. I guess I have a thing for Swedish women with gorgeous voices.

Her voice is so unique, it has the quality of fine crystal glass.

You tend to stare at the crystal glass in its pristine state, its hold your attention and you're initial intent is not to break it since it is fragile.

Well the same thing applies to Lykke Li, the quality of her voice has many aspects that draw you, but yet she sounds fragile and innocent. Sometimes it seems that she is

I spent an incredible amount of time listening to her debut album
Youth Novels and the songs are addictively catchy. I'm seriously considering turning myself over to the ward over my obsession of her work so if I go missing, you know as to why.

The song I found to play the most was Little Bit. The song explores the first time you feel or discover you have feelings for someone, but you're neither sure if they feel the same way so you tread with lover's precaution. The reason I love the song is because I know there was a time I felt that way. I'm sure everyone else has in the past or is feeling that way now.

So peep the song below and its remix and if you like what you hear, get the album its worth it I promise you.

M.I.A Report: K-OS

Posted by Arz Nova On 11:00 0 comments

Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm overtly ecstatic that K-OS has been secretly brewing up a new album, all the while I have been sleeping. I can not attest to you how much of an adoring fan I am of this chap! Its seems forever ago when K-OS dropped his latest LP Atlantis, a noteworthy body of work that I feel is hardly recognised.

Just a side-note, in comparing several artists, please bear with me. I'm not entirely sure if it is only I who sees the similarities between these musicians. In some weird, twisted thought in my head I seem to believe that, Wyclef Jean, Will.I.Am, and K-OS are some how related and Whoopi Goldberg could be like they're cousin...I may get shot for that hahahaha!

As crazy as that sounds, to me it is plausible. Not only do they look similar, but they are all emcees! In some alternate universe they may be...onwards!

The name of K-OS's latest effort off his album 'YES!' is titled 4,3,2,1! I don't know what it is, but Canada has made me an avid fan of several premier artists such as:

A-Trak

Broken Social Scene

Feist

Metric/Emily Haines

* K-OS, Feist and Emily Haines of Metric have also contributed work on projects to Broken Social Scene*

DO NOT SLEEP ON THE CANADIAN MUSIC SCENE! :]

Without further a-do and surely you know how I do peep it:
*check out the other song as well!!*

J*Davey has announced that they are full-fledged and hard at work on releasing their major label debut album in '09. Just incase you were wondering who J*Davey is, I have provided a link to their website. Jdaveybaby.com

You'll be greeted with aural pleasure from the spacey intro track produced by Brook (the male co-hort of Jack Davey)

I spent some time on their blog and it looks clean. It has various outlets for their fans to reach out and be connected with them. Also, videos, slides of photos and interviews.

The Duo that is J*Davey released a double-disc album
The Beauty In Distortion/Land of the Lost back in '08 and I demand you cop it yourself before you regret missing out on a great new treasure.

Also, joining the ranks is ours truly, Estelle. Big ups for her as she has been nominated for a Grammy. Though she has had several projects here in the UK, she has garnered breakthrough success across the pond in the States off her second single
American Boy ft. Mr. West from her Shine album.

I'm rather surprised that she is swift to making a new album and I could not be any much happier. To top it off, Estelle has indicated that she would like to collaborate with fellow Brit Adele. This year has just brightened up musically!

Updates on these new projects will be made when available. Stay Locked!

B-B-Bussssst A Move!!! Pt.3 Finale

Posted by Arz Nova On 12:22 0 comments

Sorry, yesterday was so nuts I fell asleep after all the madness...

So anyway, I go home and get myself cleaned up after getting HARLEM SHOOK. It wasn’t pretty but I'm over it. I hope my mouth didn’t write a check my HARLEM SHAKE skills can’t cash.

I just put on my game face and got ready for the CONTEST. So I show up at school and get signed in. They give me a trucker hat with my number on it and said I was gonna be in Group 6. The gym was PACKED. Poppin’ Pete was already there gassing up the crowd by doing some unintentionally homo-erotic dance routine with “Funky Brewster”.

I just gave them a glare and sat down with ANNA to wait for my group to be called.

The contest gets going and I’m starting off strong. Kids are just dropping like flies. 100 turns to 80…60…40 and I'm still in there. The judges are like “YOU, OUT…YOU OUT!” I’m in the TOP 20 but unfortunately so are the usual suspects, Pete, Hank and them.

I know this is the time to put my HARLEM SHAKE skills in OVERDRIVE. I start doing all types of combos: bounce combos, hop combos, cheddar cheese pretzel combos, you name it. Anna’s on the side doing her little offbeat German Poka shuffle to the music but I can feel her support. BOOM, 5 more people go down including FUNKY BREWSTER!

Right now my legs are crazy and im just rockin’ steady. Its like im channeling Crazy Legs or something. Im pretty much having a seizure on the dance floor. I had to fight off one teacher from trying to stick a wallet in my mouth. He thought I was gonna swallow my tongue or something. People couldn’t believe what they’re seeing. IM IN THE TOP 10!

So then I go into this BUCKTOWN BOUNCE shake just trying to keep up with POPPIN PETE and everybody else. Then alittle DIRTY BIRD shake with a smooth transition into the ROBOT. JOHNNY 5 was alive! Now a few more kids get eliminated!

The top five is me, “Willie Wiggles” “Poppin’ Pete” “Newman Beatbox” and this kid who’s not part of Pete’s crew “Dance Armstrong”.

So I set it off with this hybrid DAME DASH dice roll shake. Im doing the shake with my left and trying to ROLL TRIPPS with my right. Im dropping invisible singles on the floor, blowing on my imaginary dice, all that. Its like im playing CEELO….with myself, right there on the dance floor.

Beatbox & Wiggles get CUT!

Now it’s TOP 3 and im staring to freak out. DANCE ARMSTRONG is coming on strong and POPPIN PETE is doing his usual thing. I come out of nowhere with some Lord of The Dance type footwork comboed with a Savion Glover type tap step. It didn’t faze either of them.

I see Dance Armstrong starting to slow down alittle so I decide to hit him with the FLINTSTONE FLOP. As soon as he sees that he just runs out of steam and hits the floor! He’s OUT!

This is it, the finals! Im not a big Phil Collins fan but I can feel it coming in the air tonight. I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, oh lord.

ME vs POPPIN PETE in the showcase showdown. The judges tell us this is gonna be a winner take all, no holds barred, sudden death shake off! We were like two gladiators in the Roman Coliseum except instead of swords our weapon of choice was dance. We start going at it and the place is going absolutely bananas.

Im movin’ & groovin’. Pete’s shuckin’ & jivin’. We’re going back and forth, it’s a dead heat.

I start doing this year 2019 slow motion ghetto matrix bullet time shake. People couldn’t believe it. Pete looked stumped. He looked at the judges and was like “Is that even legal?’
I just told him: “A real man doesn’t have to say NO SLO-MO!”

The crowd was like OOOOOOHHHHHHH.

We keep going back and forth but I can see Pete is fazed. He’s starting to get tired and his Harlem Shake looks like its drifting towards the Upper West Side. I’m just doing a fist pump shake and a 2 step. My adrenaline is pumping and it look like Pete’s legs are gonna buckle.

I felt like SUBZERO when I heard ANNA’s sweet German accent slice through the crowd and yell: “FINISH HIM!”

I know what had to be done. I just start shaking double time, triple time. The whole crowd was a huge blur, it was surreal. I slow down for a sec and look him right in the eye. The place goes silent. I just said “TIMBEEEEEERRRRR” then brushed the dirt off his shoulder.

THE KID JUST TOPPLED OVER!

I WON! Everybody came pouring out of the bleachers and rushed me. It was INSANE. Anna couldnt stick her tongue down my throat fast enough. They ended up giving me this GIANT cardboard check for $1000. YES! I got the money, power, and finally some RESPECT. I felt like a LOX song!

As of today Mom’s Benz is officialy in the shop getting fixed and I got $50 left over to try and buy my way into Anna’s pants. CRAZEST day of my life, I’m still trying to recover…
