I had purchased her solo album Plethora, her first solo album that I come to love. Now, when I'm fond of something I surely can absolutely not keep it a secret. So anywhere, at any given moment either with friends or relatives or complete strangers, I preach to them about Kissey Asplund's musical wonderland that is Plethora.
Just when I had baptised everyone in my vicinity, I stumbled on yet another gem from Ms. Asplund. I kid you not, I felt so many emotions at the same time. I have never felt so confused in my life. Well except that time when I was trying to figure out what it was women REALLY meant to say. Anyway, back to lovely Kissey. Nike selected 8 individual artists to compose songs to honour the popular design of the AM90 (a Nike brand shoe).
On the stunning and impressive Silverlake, its an experimental wonder. Its sound has influences of electronica, jazz, house and soul. Its a pleasure upon first listen as you're drawn in by the instrumentation and the svelte but intimate voice of Kissey. Watch out her voice is rather captivating.
On the track Snowfall, its another gem to the ears, though its sombre its quite soothing, all again thanks in part to Kissey's deliverance and soul invoking voice. I truly enjoy listening to her and I know you shall as well.
This new sound is in a category of itself with the likes of J*Davey forging a new and refreshing breath to the stale state of music today. Both tracks are must haves whether or not you're a fan of Ms. Asplund. Hit the download links to cop!
Oh yes please go and buy Plethora!
